Clean Energy Industry Stands Ready to Lead in Economic Recovery

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington, D.C. – The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and the Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN) congratulate Joe Biden on today’s Presidential Inauguration and celebrate Kamala Harris’s historic swearing-in as America’s first female vice president.

BCSE President Lisa Jacobson said:

“President Biden has consistently signaled that clean energy will be a cornerstone of his economic recovery plan. The broad portfolio of energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy technologies and solutions can create hundreds of thousands of jobs in every state that will build a cleaner and more resilient energy system.

“BCSE and CEBN commend the Biden-Harris Administration on their holistic approach to economic recovery and climate response in their transition planning. President Biden’s promise to return to the Paris Agreement is a long-time priority for our coalitions. Our members, active contributors to international climate diplomacy since our founding in 1992, know from experience the value of U.S. leadership on this global challenge. BCSE’s December 10 letter to President Biden suggested additional executive actions to support clean energy.

“President Biden’s creation of new climate roles in the White House is the first step in an integrated federal response to climate change. The Departments of Energy, Agriculture, Defense, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation and more will all be involved in shaping clean energy’s role in economic growth and recovery.”

CEBN President Lynn Abramson said:

“CEBN is heartened to see support for small businesses as one of the key elements of the American Rescue Plan. This support, in addition to continued funding for research and development and commercialization of new technologies, will keep America’s energy innovation economy going strong.

“BCSE and CEBN look forward to working with President Biden and Vice President Harris, as well as the 117th Congress to speed our economic recovery, enhance America’s energy resilience, and deliver clean, affordable, reliable and safe energy to all Americans.”
