This Request for Applications (RFA) is soliciting research to develop and demonstrate nanosensor technology with functionalized catalysts that have the potential to degrade selected contaminants in addition to detecting and monitoring pollutants. Specifically, EPA is seeking proposals that use nanotechnology to detect, monitor, and degrade PFAS in groundwater or surface water that may be used as drinking water sources.

Office of the Under Secretary of Defense seeks an application for a cooperative agreement from the EA Engineering, Science and Technology, Inc., PBC in support of awarding funding for three Legacy projects for the Legacy Installation Climate Resilience project. Project 1, at MCAS Cherry Point entitled Developing a Regional Framework Using Nature-based Solutions to Improve the Resilience of Coastal Habitat; Project 2, Climate Resilience project at MCAS Yuma entitled Regenerative Grazing for Water Infiltration and Carbon Sequestration to develop projects which sequester carbon and improve habitat using nature-based solutions ; and Project 3, Fallbrook Creek Stabilization and Erosion Control Demonstration Project to develop projects which improve coastal resilience using nature-based solutions.

The grant program will help eligible communities handle expenses related to incidents (Presidentially declared disasters) that damaged water systems. Funds can be used to develop water infrastructure system capacity and resiliency to reduce or eliminate long term risks from hazards resulting from (Presidentially declared) disasters during calendar year 2022. For the purposes of this program, the term “water” refers to all water resource infrastructure, including drinking water, wastewater, storm drainage, and solid waste facilities.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as part of its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, is seeking proposals from the small businesses to develop novel environmental technologies in the following topics areas: clean and safe water, air quality and climate, land, homeland security, circular economy/sustainable materials, and safer chemicals.

The Global Climate Innovator Challenge is a global program which brings together changemakers, climate entrepreneurs, sustainability technologists, and decision makers in the climate world to help accelerate the next wave of innovative solutions to achieve our 1.5ºC climate goal. We are looking for innovative solutions or ideas (including but not limited to technology, product, business model, or approach) that can accelerate progress towards 1.5°C climate goal. Professional Innovators can participate in the Challenge as an incorporated entity. You need to submit a summary of your Solution, with an identified stage before the deadline. Youth Innovators (<24yo) can participate in the Challenge as a team of 2-4 members.

Top 3 finalists will be invited to attend the black-tie Ambassador Gala;  receive continued support to fast-track their growth in the following 12 months, including mentorship, feedback, training, and resources from the GCIC network; and be invited to showcase the progress of their growth in the next year at the 2024 Global Climate Innovation Summit.

The SCALEUP 2023 FOA seeks to scale the most promising technologies previously funded by ARPA-E. The stranding of promising ARPA-E-funded technologies in their development pathways leaves substantial intellectual property developed with American taxpayer dollars vulnerable to adoption by foreign competitors, who can and do capture it for continued development – and economic benefit – overseas. This harms national competitiveness, as U.S. industries often lose the lead on the development, scaling, and manufacturing of technologies necessary to compete in rapidly evolving global energy markets. Thus, projects selected for SCALEUP 2023 will meet ARPA-E’s statutory direction to achieve the above goals by “accelerating transformational technological advances in areas that industry by itself is not likely to undertake because of technical and financial uncertainty”.
