The Biodiversity Accelerator

The Biodiversity Accelerator+ is an initiative catalyzed by Silverstrand Capital to grow the ecosystem of biodiversity and nature positive companies. This three month, hybrid programme is made up of in-person and online sessions, to optimise both organisational learning & development and business execution & growth. The BA+ is an equity-free program with value-added services worth over $200K. Companies participating in the program will also be considered as investment opportunities for Silverstrand Capital and gain the opportunity to network with a network of like-minded investors.

Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab

Our in-house startup accelerator promotes financial inclusion and provides access to capital for early-stage technology and technology-enabled companies. Morgan Stanley provides participating companies with $250,000 for each company in our New York-based program and £250,000 for each company in our London-based program in exchange for a 5% equity stake. We introduce startups to our bankers, financial advisors, technology experts and others who can connect each company to their industry networks. Morgan Stanley pairs each startup with hand-picked mentors, entrepreneurs in residence and advisors who provide counsel, sales and leadership coaching, to help each company grow and scale.

Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRC)

The DOE SC program in Basic Energy Sciences (BES) announces a re-competition of the Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) program and encourages both new and renewal applications. Applications from multi-disciplinary teams will be required to propose discovery science and use-inspired basic research that addresses priority research directions and opportunities identified by a series of BES workshop and roundtable reports.  BES is soliciting renewal applications for basic science in three topical areas: 1) Transformative manufacturing, 2) Quantum information science (QIS), and 3) Environmental management. BES is soliciting new applications for basic science in two topical areas: 1) Co-design of materials and processes to revolutionize microelectronics and/or QIS fabrication, and 2) Environmental management.

Lead2030 Challenge SDG13

The challenge seeks to support scalable youth-led solutions that:

  • Reduce the impacts of climate change, and/or empower others to act on climate change
  • Address root causes of the issue
  • Demonstrate ability to drive impact and potential to scale
  • Collaborate with others to accelerate or broaden impact
  • Utilize innovative approaches

They are looking for bold solutions that reduce impacts of climate change and/or empower others to act on climate change. Examples of solutions may include behavioural change, technology solutions or scaling of technology solutions, education, nature-based solutions, community actions or collaborations.

Areas

The solutions should drive impact in at least one of the following areas:

  • Actively contribute to carbon reduction, carbon sequestration, and/or the transition to clean, renewable energy
  • Support or empower local people who are undertaking climate action to improve their community, strengthen resilience and limit the effects of climate change
  • Promote meaningful collaboration across stakeholder groups such as communities, businesses, and governments, to advance climate change solutions and resilience measures
  • Support initiatives that develop job skills, improve educational outcomes, and provide access to opportunities within the green economy
  • Limit the negative human, environmental, or societal impacts brought on by climate change

2024 US Quantum Information Science Summer School (USQIS)

Oak Ridge National Laboratory will host the second US QIS Summer School facilitated by the US Department of Energy National Quantum Information Science Research Centers from July 15 to 26, 2024.

The summer school is an in-residence learning experience for outstanding graduate and undergraduate students and early-career scientists seeking hands-on experience with quantum science and technology in a laboratory setting. The curriculum will be taught at a graduate level.

• Topological approaches to quantum computing
• Cold atoms and ion traps
• Error mitigation and error correction
• The current state of the quantum information science field

DOE Grid Resilience Analysis and Climate Change Impacts (GRACI)

The Grid Resilience Analysis and Climate Change Impacts funding (GRACI) opportunity allows the development of a consortium of universities, non-profit, and for-profit organizations to provide technical assistance to grant recipients of the Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants Program. The primary role of these research consortia is to accelerate analysis of climate change threats and impacts on electric grid infrastructure, describe best practices for grid operations and investments, and provide additional information and analysis to state energy officials, public service commissions, and utilities to aid in grid resilience planning and decision-making.
