The Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office have launched the Innovation crossroads initiative to match aspiring energy entrepreneurs with technology experts, mentors, and networks to bring cutting-edge ideas to the marketplace. This initiative includes fellowship, mentorship, and collaborative R&D funding.

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) intends to fund transformational research ideas focused on reducing the energy and cost requirements of water desalination. The four technical areas of interest are materials R&D, new processes R&D, modelling and simulation tools, and integrated data and analysis.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) invites applications for improving the water and waste disposal systems in rural America. The various program goals include the following: improved water systems and service, reduction in water-borne illness, the creation of economic opportunity in rural America and improved water system operations through technical assistance.
