Each year, the event gives invited military veterans an opportunity to pitch business ideas to investors and lenders for a chance to raise capital. During the competition, finalists attend workshops geared toward businesses in early stages of development, have the opportunity to perfect their pitch and receive feedback from professionals, network with potential investors and learn from other entrepreneurial success stories. The competition also attracts a variety of investors, including groups that have earmarked capital specifically for this event.

• Improvements in manufacturing processes which result in significant national carbon emissions reduction and energy savings.
• Improvements in semiconductor technologies that will result in operational energy efficiency improvements.

• Reductions in CO₂ or CO₂-equivalent emissions.

The DOE program in Biological and Environmental Research (BER) is accepting applications for research in Environmental System Science (ESS). The goal of the ESS program in BER is to advance an integrated, robust, and scale-aware predictive understanding of terrestrial systems and their interdependent microbial, biogeochemical, ecological, hydrological, and physical processes.

This FOA will encompass three Science Research Areas: 1) improved understanding of hot spots and hot moments of biogeochemical cycling in terrestrial-aquatic interfaces; 2) investigations of cold-region ecosystem and watershed process responses to changing cold season climate drivers; and 3) synthesis studies using existing data that address testing of ESS relevant hypotheses and development of transferable insights across ecosystems, watersheds, and regions.

The Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Science has released a funding solicitation for research in high energy physics. A total of $100 million will be used to support awards in this funding opportunity, with an annual range of $20,000 to $5,000,000 for awardees. 10 to 100 awards will be given, for an expected average award period of 3 years.

The HEP programs focuses on the energy frontier, the intensity frontier, and the cosmic frontier. In addition, research is also conducted in theoretical high energy physics, accelerator science and technology R&D, and detector R&D.

The Better Project and Better Practice awards recognize partners for innovative and industry leading accomplishments in implementing decarbonization, energy and water efficiency, or waste reduction projects/practices.

Better Buildings Initiative partners can nominate their organization by downloading and completing the application form and emailing it to [email protected]. Nominations must be received no later than January 23, 2023.

Successful applications will address: Innovative ways to improve energy or water efficiency, waste reduction, or decreases in greenhouse gas emissions; significant savings and practices that can be replicated in other buildings or industrial facilities; and overcoming barriers .

In 2023, the program will focus on three global net-zero challenges and will award the Pioneers prize to innovators with scalable, impactful and equitable solutions to these challenges: accelerating the deployment of clean hydrogen; sustainable metals and materials for an electrified future; building a net-zero food production system.

BNEF will also select one or more wildcard winners, unrelated to the chosen challenges. These wildcard applicants can address any issue that helps the world address climate change and we encourage submissions for all climate-tech solutions that lie outside of the three challenges outlined below.

The Keeling Curve Prize is looking for projects with a proven track record of taking greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. We’ve developed five categories, each one addressing a specific sector of climate innovation: Carbon Sinks, Energy, Finance, Social & Cultural Pathways, Transport & Mobility.

The purpose of the DOL Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs Grant Program is to fund public-private partnerships to develop, strengthen, and scale promising and evidence-based training models in H-1B industries and occupations critical to meeting the goals of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and to maximize the impact of these investments.

This FOA seeks to advance innovative fish passage technologies by providing data on biological effects and fish passage performance. Technology innovations include: 1) novel solutions that are accompanied by analytical or experimental evidence that has established proof-of-concept and provides a rationale for next steps testing needs in terms of a critical path for research and development leading to market adoption; and 2) innovations to existing technologies that reduce negative impacts to fish, increase performance, show potential to dramatically reduce costs, and/or present applications to novel use cases (e.g., different fish species evaluations, environmental conditions, or types of infrastructure). The development of technical solutions to enable and improve safe, timely, and effective fish passage and protection at hydropower dams can improve hydropower’s environmental performance, supports infrastructure sustainability, and contributes to fish restoration goals.
