Reaching a New Energy Sciences Workforce (RENEW) – Basic Energy Sciences

The Basic Energy Sciences (BES) FOA will increase participation of underrepresented groups in BES’s research portfolio in condensed matter and materials physics, chemistry, geosciences, and aspects of biosciences by providing internship and research opportunities for students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty from non-R1 MSIs through partnerships with DOE national laboratories or R1 MSIs. The Environmental Justice Government-to-Government (EJG2G) Program

Formerly known as EPA’s State Environmental Justice Cooperative Agreement Program (SEJCA), this program has been renamed to better reflect the multiple entities eligible for the funding as well as the purpose of the program. The EJG2G program provides funding to governmental entities at the state, local, territorial and tribal level to support and/or create model government activities that lead to measurable environmental or public health results in communities disproportionately burdened by environmental harms and risks. These models should leverage or utilize existing resources or assets of state agencies to develop key tools and processes that integrate environmental justice considerations into governments and government programs at all levels.

The Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Cooperative Agreement Program

EPA’s EJ Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program provides funding for eligible applicants for projects that address local environmental and public health issues within an affected community. The EJCPS Program assists recipients in building collaborative partnerships to help them understand and address environmental and public health concerns in their communities.

ACORE Accelerate Membership Program

As a leader in the pan-renewables sector, ACORE is uniquely positioned to help emerging innovators working across the renewables spectrum access capital, pursue transformational business partnerships and work with policymakers to support their business. Through a cohort approach, ACORE Accelerate focuses on supporting small emerging renewable energy companies owned and/or operated by leaders who identify as women, Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, or Native American.  Accelerate members receive a complimentary two-year ACORE membership, an education stipend, dedicated staff, free access to ACORE paid events, targeted industry briefings, pro-bono legal and advisory services, and networking events with potential funders, developers, and ACORE members and partners, among other benefits.

EJ4Climate: Environmental Justice and Climate Resilience

The CEC established this grant program in 2021 to fund projects that target underserved and vulnerable communities, and Indigenous communities, in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, to prepare them for climate-related impacts.

The EJ4Climate Grant Program provides funding directly to community-based organizations and seeks to support environmental justice by facilitating the involvement and empowerment of communities searching for solutions and the development of partnerships to address their environmental and human health vulnerabilities, including those due to climate change impacts.

Resilience in Climate Equity (RICE) Award

The Resilience in Climate Equity award will be given to outstanding Women of Color in the Climate & Environmental movement. The award is meant to recognize the often hard, diligent, unpaid, and underpaid work of Women of Color in the movement. Preference will be given to Women of Color who have been historically excluded from mainstream environmentalism.

Award winners will receive: a stipend of $5,000, professional coaching, the opportunity to join us for our healing retreat in Belize February 2023, and the opportunity to join us for our first annual Rise to Thrive convening in 2023 and present on the work you do in the Climate, Conservation & Environmental community
