Climate Justice Fellowship (NY)

NYSERDA is seeking applications from organizations who wish to host a full-time Climate Justice Fellow for 1 year. NYSERDA will fund the fellow’s salary as well as professional development training/mentoring and/or wrap-around services. Fellows must be members of a priority population. Host organizations must be working to advance climate justice and clean energy priorities for disadvantaged communities. It is anticipated that fellows from priority populations will work with community-based organizations, universities, municipalities, tribal nations, career technology education (CTE) programs for K-12 schools, climate tech innovators/start-ups, venture development organizations and clean energy businesses.

Community Workforce Readiness Accelerator for Major Projects (RAMP) Fellowship

At the heart of the initiative is a two-year fellowship program overseen by DOE’s Office of Energy Jobs that will recruit candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to learn how to develop and implement strategic workforce partnerships in their communities.  RAMP seeks to provide opportunities to Fellows to learn how to create workforce strategies to meet the demand for skilled workers in high quality jobs on large energy projects funded in part by DOE. RAMP’s goal is to create and scale effective, inclusive workforce development strategies aimed at forging pathways for local workers, underrepresented populations, and disadvantaged communities (including justice-involved people, youth, and women). Fellows will receive professional development, technical assistance, training in effective workforce practices, and the opportunity to participate in peer learning with other community leaders and RAMP fellows across the country.

Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship (CEIF) 2024

The Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship (CEIF) program funds recent graduates and energy professionals to support critical energy organizations to advance clean energy solutions that will help decarbonize the power system, electrify transportation and industry, and make the U.S. power system more resilient, equitable and inclusive. The goal of the program is to increase access to clean energy career opportunities across the country and accelerate the national transition to resilient and affordable clean energy. The CEIF program is supported by the Grid Deployment Office (GDO), Office of Indian Policy and Programs (IE), and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).

2024 Scientific Exchange Program – Women in Sustainable Food Systems

The Scientific Exchange Program (SEP) leverages the latest developments in cross-cutting agricultural priorities, research, and technologies to educate a new generation of agricultural scientist to promote trade, trade policy, trade capacity building, and food security. The collaborative nature of the SEP leadership training and research programs improves agricultural productivity, systems, and processes in partnering emerging market economies through the transfer of new science and agricultural technologies. SEP focuses on a cohort of Fellows who spend up to 12 weeks at the U.S. academic institution (host institution) and work directly with U.S. scientists in their fields. For fiscal year 2024, USDA/FAS is seeking proposals that (1) promote the mentorship and leadership role of women researchers and scientists in food systems and, (2) that strengthen the science and evidence-base for the role and needs of women in food systems, including as it relates to climate change.

2024 New Futures Fellowships

The New Futures Fellowship is a three-month remote fellowship program that focuses on innovative and interdisciplinary solutions to the climate crisis. This fellowship brings together activists and scholars from around the globe to conduct research, make policy recommendations, and produce creative digital content. Our 2024 fellowship is centered around two critical themes: Climate + River Delta Communities and Clean Energy + Environmental Justice. From May 28, 2024, to September 6, 2024, fellows will collaborate in teams, taking on roles as researchers, campaigners, communicators, and policy analysts.

LabStart 2024 Fellowship

LabStart is actively recruiting a diverse cohort of individuals – passionate about climate solutions, for a paid, year-long fellowship. During the program, fellows will work to build a startup around technologies licensed from national labs and universities. LabStart provides funding, structured programming and mentorship with a peer cohort, access to industry networks and funding pipelines, and guidance navigating the patent licensing process. You commit to working full-time on launching your company and we commit to making that possible! Selected entrepreneurs will convene with an in-person kickoff March 12-14, 2024. We anticipate 3-5 in-person events throughout the year and 6-8 virtual hours per week of LabStart curriculum, mentorship, team building, and coaching.

Clean Energy and Communications in Schools and Nonprofits Fellowship

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Science, Technology and Policy Program is designed to provide opportunities for postgraduates and faculty to participate in programs, projects, and activities at the Department. Fellows will receive hands-on experience that provides an understanding of the mission, operations, and culture of the DOE. As a result, fellows will gain deep insight into the federal government’s role in the creation and implementation of energy technology policies; apply their scientific, policy, and technical knowledge to the development of solutions to issues of importance to the DOE and continue their education and involvement in areas that support the DOE mission either in a technical or policy-related role.

A signature program of NYCEDC’s Venture Access NYC initiative, the Founder Fellowship is designed to improve access to capital and networks for underrepresented founders across all tech-enabled sectors. Each year, the Founder Fellowship supports a diverse community of New York City tech startup founder teams with much-needed access to resources and networks to help them grow their companies. Breakthrough Energy Fellows Cohort 4

Breakthrough Energy Fellows (BEF) flagship program, the Innovator Fellowship, is designed to accelerate the development of promising early-stage climate technologies. The Fellowship is a full-time commitment for innovators committed to commercializing their climate technology. Typically, Innovator projects have raised less than $2,000,000 in dilutive funding and are legally incorporated prior to program start date of September 2024.

The Explorers Fellowship offers funding for developing breakthrough climate solutions that are earlier stage, higher technical risk, and may not yet be ready to incorporate. Explorers’ projects are typically in a university lab or research entity, and are overseen by professors, faculty members, or full-time researchers who can remain in position for this part-time opportunity.

Innovation Crossroads: Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program

Innovation Crossroads, a Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the Southeast’s only entrepreneurial research and development program based at a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratory. Innovation Crossroads supports and mentors entrepreneurial researchers whose early-stage innovations are presently too challenging or technically uncertain to pursue in a venture capital-financed startup. Innovators are selected for the program through an annual competition. Innovation Crossroads embeds innovators at ORNL for up to two years for entrepreneurial mentorship and to conduct cooperative research and development with the intention of incubating and translating innovations from proof-of-concept to proof-of-product.
