This FOA supports the administration goals laid out above by accelerating the
growth of domestic production capability of electric vehicles and components to
meet anticipated increased demand for clean energy technologies as the
economy transitions to net-zero emissions. The program will also aim to:

• Retain and/or return good-quality, high-paying jobs in facilities that
have long served ICE vehicle manufacturing.
• Retain, strengthen, and expand collective bargaining agreements in
automotive facilities.
• Support a just transition for workers and communities in the
transition to electrified transportation, with particular attention to
communities supporting facilities with longer histories in automotive
manufacturing.
• Expand United States electric vehicle and component manufacturing
to meet the goal of having at least 50 percent of all new passenger
cars and light trucks sold in 2030 be zero-emission vehicles, including
battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric, or fuel cell electric vehicles.
• Strengthen domestic supply chains for electrified vehicles as well as
related components and materials.

New Technologies for Agriculture Extension (NTAE) Competitive Grants Program provides funding to increase the capacity of the Cooperative Extension System (CES) to adopt new and innovative technology applications for delivering science-based educational resources from land-grant and other partner institutions about matters of high importance to the general public. The NTAE Program supports state of the art technology and software applications, high quality leadership training for an exceptional CES workforce, comprehensive evaluation, communications, and marketing activities that promote governance, collaboration and organization, a toolkit of evidence-based delivery models, and an entrepreneurial resource base. NTAE prioritizes the use of digital tools and national programming strategies to increase collaboration in priority research areas across the Land Grant University and Cooperative Extension Systems.

This program aims to ensure the timely siting and construction of new or upgraded interstate or offshore electric transmission facilities while providing economic benefits to impacted communities. In order to accelerate and strengthen siting and permitting activities carried out by state, local, and Tribal siting and permitting authorities, this program will support efforts to standardize and streamline siting and permitting processes, coordinate across jurisdictions, and carry out robust public engagement, among other things. In order to provide economic benefits to communities impacted by the construction and operation of interstate or offshore transmission lines, including economically disadvantaged communities and environmental justice communities, this program will provide funds to siting authorities or other types of state, local, or Tribal governmental entities to support a wide range of projects that provide benefits targeted to the needs of impacted communities.

EmPower Massachusetts offers multiple stages of investment in communities and community-based organizations so that they can explore, develop, and implement program models or projects that provide access to the benefits of clean energy for previously underserved populations. Implementation grants provide funding to implement community-based programs or projects that increase the access to the benefits of clean energy to and/or reduce energy burden on previously underserved population priority groups.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has launched R-STEP, which will support the creation of new, or the expansion of existing, state-based programs or initiatives that improve renewable energy planning and siting processes for local communities. Through R-STEP, DOE anticipates awarding approximately five to seven state-based collaboratives between $1 to $2 million each to expand state and local capacity on large-scale renewable energy siting and planning. Collaboratives will also benefit from tailored technical assistance and peer-learning opportunities through the program. Collaboratives could include but are not limited to state energy offices, Governors’ offices, Extension offices, universities, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and other organizations.

The first round of funding makes up to $8 million available for projects that address the challenges of decarbonizing industrial process heat and advancing clean hydrogen production and renewable energy integration.

Through the first round, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is seeking applicants comprised of single entities or teams to compete for funding under two technical challenge areas including hydrogen applications to decarbonize industrial process heat and clean hydrogen production and integration with renewable energy. The principal objective of this solicitation is to support transformational habitat restoration projects that restore marine, estuarine, coastal, or Great Lakes ecosystems, using approaches that enhance community and ecosystem resilience to climate hazards. Funding will prioritize habitat restoration actions that: demonstrate significant impacts; rebuild productive and sustainable fisheries; contribute to the recovery and conservation of threatened and endangered species; promote climate-resilient ecosystems, especially in tribal, indigenous, and/or underserved communities; and improve economic vitality, including local employment.

The Community Benefits Grant Program is an innovative partnership between Clean Power Alliance (CPA) and Calpine Energy Solutions. This annual program provides grant funding to organizations working to advance clean energy, green jobs, environmental education and stewardship, and energy equity and diversity in the communities that CPA serves. 

This Request for Applications (RFA) is soliciting research to develop and demonstrate nanosensor technology with functionalized catalysts that have the potential to degrade selected contaminants in addition to detecting and monitoring pollutants. Specifically, EPA is seeking proposals that use nanotechnology to detect, monitor, and degrade PFAS in groundwater or surface water that may be used as drinking water sources.

The Distressed Area Recompete Pilot Program (Recompete Pilot Program) will invest $200 million in persistently distressed communities to create and connect people to good jobs. This program will create renewed economic opportunity in communities that have for too long been forgotten. To do so, the program targets areas where prime-age (25-54 years) employment significantly trails the national average, with the goal to close this gap through large, flexible investments. As part of EDA’s place-based economic development approach, the Recompete Pilot Program aims to meet communities where they are by offering grant opportunities that ensure sustainable and equitable economic growth across the United States.
