The DOE is accepting proposals for the creation of a desalination hub as a low-cost alternative to treat non-traditional water sources for use in municipal and industrial water supplies. The DOE has expressed interest in research proposals around topics of scientific or technical merit and feasibility of ideas with commercial potential and in line with DOE mission research. The period of performance should not exceed 12 months and only the awardees of Phase-I would proceed to Phase-II. Approximately 40% of phase-I awardees would be awarded phase-II awards.
The 76West Clean Energy Competition is currently accepting applications from clean energy startups from New York State’s Southern Tier region. The major areas of interest include Hardware technologies, software technologies, services, or processes that broadly reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The preliminary areas of interest are Advanced Scientific Computing Research, Basic Energy Sciences, Biological and Environmental Research, Fusion Energy Sciences, High Energy Physics, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Fuel Cell Technologies, Solar Energy Technologies and Nuclear energy.
The DOE invites relevant people (Phase 1 & 11 grantees) to apply for phase-II grants aimed at completion of R&D associated with the initial prototype, product, or process development (Phase IIA) and transition of innovative models towards commercialization (Phase IIB). The main areas of interest would include greater emphasis on impact demonstration of the path to commercialization as evidenced in commercialization activities conducted in parallel with or after Phase IIB R&D.
The DOE has instituted a phase-0 program, to assist eligible small businesses to navigate the complexities of the SBIR/STTR proposal process, in association with the Dawnbreaker-led team. The Division of Energy and Mineral Development (DEMD) is soliciting applications to promote the development of energy and mineral resources in tribal areas. Some of the broad project ideas are initial resource exploration, potential targets for development, market analysis, economic evaluation and analysis and pre-construction studies for the development of energy resources.
The DOE is interested in receiving proposals aimed at advancing the performance and efficiency of combustion turbines in combined cycle applications for university-related R&D projects. The broad topic areas include Pressure Gain Combustion, Advanced Materials, and Manufacturing-Hot Gas Path Turbine Components, CO2 Power Cycle Development and Power Generation with Large-Scale Energy Storage.
The DOE is interested in receiving proposals on next-generation wind turbine drivetrain technologies, both land-based tall wind and offshore applications. The overall objective of this project would be to reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) from a wind plant through up-tower testing of a megawatt-scale lightweight generator.
