Some of the broad project ideas are initial resource exploration, potential targets for development, market analysis, economic evaluation and analysis and pre-construction studies for the development of energy resources.
The DOE is interested in receiving proposals aimed at advancing the performance and efficiency of combustion turbines in combined cycle applications for university-related R&D projects. The broad topic areas include Pressure Gain Combustion, Advanced Materials, and Manufacturing-Hot Gas Path Turbine Components, CO2 Power Cycle Development and Power Generation with Large-Scale Energy Storage.
The DOE is interested in receiving proposals on next-generation wind turbine drivetrain technologies, both land-based tall wind and offshore applications. The overall objective of this project would be to reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) from a wind plant through up-tower testing of a megawatt-scale lightweight generator.
