The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and the Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN) are pleased to celebrate the third anniversary of their successful partnership, as of May 1, 2020. Now facing the collective challenges posted by COVID-19, this industry partnership is working together to address impacts and bring together recommendations for relief and recovery plans.
Thirty small business leaders from the Clean Energy Business Network are traveling to Washington for meetings this week to highlight their energy innovations to officials at the Department of Energy and congressional leaders on Capitol Hill. In meetings with agency officials, lawmakers and their staffs, the business leaders will discuss the need to protect and grow federal funding for the Department of Energy and clean energy innovation overall. In addition, participants will discuss a set of principles to improve the Small Business Innovation Research Program. All participating businesses have previously received funding through DOE.
Yesterday, Rep. Schneider (D-IL) introduced the The Waste Heat to Power Investment Tax Credit Act in the House. This bill would provide a 30 percent investment tax credit for WHP technologies that begin production in the next five years. The bill was also included in the Growing Renewable Energy and Efficiency Now (GREEN) Act, a comprehensive package of bills designed to use the tax code to expand renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The Clean Energy Business Network has been chosen as The Cleanie Awards® Gold recipient for Non-Profit of the Year. The Cleanie Awards program is the first comprehensive awards program exclusive to the cleantech industry. The program sets out to recognize innovation excellence, business leadership and superior outreach campaigns. Nominations were submitted from individuals and organizations of all sizes and across many facets of the industry.
The Clean Energy Business Network is pleased to highlight that CEBN President Lynn Abramson will provide testimony today for members of the House Committee on Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development, Agriculture, Trade, and Entrepreneurship. The hearing, titled “Growing the Clean Energy Economy,” provides an opportunity for Committee members to hear about the small businesses across the country working in the clean energy economy and to review the policies that impact them.
The CEBN is pleased to highlight a new partnership with The Heat is Power Association (HiP), the national trade association for the waste heat to power (WHP) industry. Under this new arrangement, CEBN President Lynn Abramson and Program Manager Andy Barnes will assist in promoting the WHP industry in Washington, DC and work to advance HiP’s policy objectives on the federal level.

The Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN)—a group of 3,000+ business leaders in all 50 states working across every aspect of the clean energy economy—finalized its inaugural board of directors on March 14, 2018. This development marks yet another milestone in the process of transitioning the organization from its former home within The Pew Charitable Trusts to its new home within the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE).

The Business Council for Sustainable Energy is excited to announce a new partnership with The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Clean Energy Business Network beginning May 1. Pew launched the Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN) in 2009 to inform and engage clean energy business leaders in federal policy issues affecting the industry. It has grown to over 3,000 members from the 50 U.S. states representing all aspects of the clean energy economy.
